With Ofsted prioritising reading in the current framework, many schools are continuing to focus on intent, implementation and impact of learning in this vital component of the curriculum.
However, the Covid pandemic has put a spoke in the wheels of progress. It is a challenge to provide children with the support and motivation that they need to access the full reading curriculum while they are learning at home and there is no doubt that the gaps in attainment will require significant attention over the coming weeks and months.
This three-part course aims to review the skills that reading comprehension demands, consider text selection to provide an appropriate challenge and offer strategies for effective learning and teaching. Places cost £50, and small groups of colleagues can log in together.
