Focusing on Phonics
Course Aims
This two-part course will refresh phonics knowledge and understanding, provide an overview of Letters and Sounds and show how to use the teaching sequence to structure learning and teaching together with practical strategies and activities to support and encourage learning.
Who should attend?
TAs in Key Stages 1 and 2, and teachers who would like to refresh their approach to the teaching of phonics.
Phonics in Key Stage 2
Course Aims
This course aims to support KS2 teachers and teaching assistants to provide for pupils in KS2 who have gaps in learning in phonics. As well as updating practitioners’ subject knowledge, we will explore the principles and challenges of teaching phonics in KS2, assessment of pupils’ needs and strategies and activities for teaching and learning.
Who should attend?
Teachers and teaching assistants in KS2. Key Stage coordinators and literacy subject leaders are also invited to attend.
